Destiny 2 Abilities Are Getting Revamped In Season 15

Today, Bungie outlined sweeping changes that will hit Destiny 2's abilities starting in Season 15. Almost every subclass is seeing at least some sort of change, while two overall ability changes seem squared aimed at fixing some gripes in Destiny 2's PvP game modes.

Those two changes include shorter freeze breakout animations and nerfs to shotguns while sliding. These changes take direct aim at two pain points in the Crucible where being frozen lasts so long that it might as well mean death. Shotgun sliding has been rampant in PvP for quite some time, but starting S15, sliding with a shotgun will cause increased spread and reduced stability, increasing the likelihood that a target will survive the initial blast.

Titan Rally Barricades are basically unused in Destiny 2 currently, but that might change with next season's update. Starting in Season 15, Rally Barricades will provide 30% more stability, 10% more range, and reduce flinch by half for everyone standing behind one, in addition to its current 50% reload speed boost. Additionally, both types of Titan Barricades will extend into the ground slightly to reduce the likelihood of AOE attacks breaking through.

Other Titan changes include a slight reversal of some Stasis nerfs made to Behemoths, including more movement speed to Shiver Strike, as well as Cryoclasm shattering Stasis crystals even on an uncharged slide. Middle-tree Sunbreaker's hammers now last 10 seconds on the ground and do more damage to powerful PvE opponents, while Fist of Havoc's slam detonation has increased.

An interesting change is being made to middle-tree Striker's Inertia Override, increasing its duration from four to six seconds and also providing melee energy. This is apparently due to a change coming in S15 that hasn't been disclosed yet.

Two of the biggest changes coming in Season 15 will hit top-tree Titan Sentinel and middle-tree Warlock Dawnblade. Both Ward of Dawn's health and Well of Radiance's damage reduction will now scale with the caster's Resilience stat, meaning low-Resilience Titans will be a bubble that could pop while low-Resilience Warlocks won't be able to simply tank through boss damage. For Warlock's, this change is especially impactful as very few Warlocks have high Resilience outside of the Crucible.

Of all three classes, Hunters seem to come out the furthest ahead. Nerfs to Revenant Stasis abilities are being slightly reduced as Squall will move a bit faster and Withering Blade's tracking and speed will be improved 10%. Top-tree Golden Gun's damage falloff will increase five meters, while Arcstrider will see its super get increased duration, PvE damage, and slam radius.

For Warlocks, top-tree Dawnblade is getting nerfed to reduce its dominance in the Crucible, while bottom-tree Dawnblade is getting several interesting buffs. Nova Warp and Handheld Supernova will also receive substantial buffs along with bottom-tree Stormcaller's Arc Soul and Landfall.

There's a lot more in today's TWAB, like a new binding option for charged melees as well as reduced requirements to unlocking Stasis abilities, so give it a full read-over on Bungie's site.
