The final Dungeons and Dragons book of the 2020 calendar year has been revealed and players are finally getting another optional rules expansion. Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything follows in the footsteps of Xanathar’s Guide to Everything by providing a tome full of optional rules for both players and DMs to utilize at their tables. The book is narrated through the voice of an iconic DnD villain and the namesake of one of DnD’s most popular spells.

Now that Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is officially announced, loads of details about the upcoming book are arriving ahead of its November release date. In addition to the massive list of 22 new subclasses that the book will contain, there are also some details about Tasha herself and the book’s format. Like most 5e books, Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything is going to release with both a standard cover and an alternative art cover featuring a different artist’s take on the powerful Dungeons and Dragons wizard.

As always, the alternative art version of the book is a game shop exclusive (just like the the alternative cover for Rime of the Frostmaiden). That means that players who are interested in securing the alternative art version should get in touch with their local game store and see what their policy is for pre-ordering and how limited their stock usually is. The internal contents of both versions will be exactly the same, so the alternative art is purely an aesthetic difference and just something for collector’s to add to their bookshelves. Fans can check out the official art and cover dressings for both versions now that they have been revealed…

The alternative art versions of DnD 5e books have become an exciting part of each new book’s reveal and this one lives up to the standard that has been set so far. The art offers a very different take on Tasha and her cauldron from the standard cover, so it’s cool to see a different artist’s reading of the titular character. Players who don’t know Tasha very well should learn a lot more about her by reading her margin notes throughout the book when it releases.
