On Twitter this morning, developer Saber Interactive confirmed that Evil Dead: The Game has been delayed until February 2022 following some comments that actor Bruce Campbell made in a Q&A last month. The stated reason for this delay is to further polish the game while not crunching the studio. "We're targeting a new release date to give the team some extra time for polish and to ensure this is the ultimate Evil Dead experience you’re all waiting for!" reads the post.
That's really great, but it seems that extra time won't just be for stability. The extra time granted by this delay will allow Saber to implement a single-player option into Evil Dead: The Game, so you won't be forced to play in co-op if your friends aren't available. It will be interesting to see how that works.

Saber Interactive thanked everyone for supporting the team and teased some additional updates in the coming months. There will be extra character reveals, information about pre-order availability (possibly a collector's edition), and probably some videos with Bruce Campbell promoting the title. We can all use more of Campbell's voice in our lives.
The delay for Evil Dead: The Game isn't too surprising to me as we haven't seen much of it these last few months. I would rather the team delay the game than rush it out, so I'm willing to wait. The co-op aspect feels like an excellent way to pay homage to the many different sequels and spin-offs Evil Dead has.
