F1 2020, GRID, And Dirt 5 Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Xbox Game Pass is about to inject even more adrenaline into the platform with the addition of five new racing games. These games stem from EA’s surprise acquisition of Codemasters earlier this year and that acquisition is now proving worthwhile for EA Play and Game Pass members. Beginning today, Codemaster’s Dirt 4, Dirt Rally, Dirt Rally 2.0, F1 2020, and GRID are available on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

These additions were tweeted out earlier this week by the official EA Play Twitter. The tweet was also accompanied by an official welcome to Codemasters to the EA family.

Codemasters is a British video game developer and publisher responsible for a bunch of popular racing games like Dirt and Project Cars. Back in February, news broke that EA had acquired the developer. Soon after the acquisition the CEO and CFO of Codemasters left the company, leading many to worry about the future of this popular game developer. However, EA assured fans that the company would retain autonomy after the acquisition.

This autonomy was shown with the reveal of the next installment in the Grid series, Grid Legends, due sometime next year. While many worried that this acquisition would alter the games drastically, it looks like Grid Legends will maintain the favorite features of the previous entries with more variety and choice offered to players. Though, the acquisition did impact the release of F1 2021, which witnessed massive price hikes across multiple countries after EA’s Codemasters acquisition.

These additions to the streaming services are sure to excite many players, particularly the Dirt series which is one of the more popular titles from Codemasters. This series, which lets players take control of rally cars in adrenaline-pumping races, has been one of the defining racing games of the past few years. Of course, all these titles are pretty popular amongst players. In fact, amid the COVID-19 pandemic Codemasters used Dirt 5, Dirt Rally 2.0, and GRID to promote mental health awareness in the United Kingdom. It also promoted social distancing through ads that encouraged racers to “Stay Home” and “Save Lives”.

Fans new and old can now enjoy these titles so long as they are a member of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or EA Play.
