Nvidia’s launch event introduced new powerful graphics cards to the market with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, RTX 3080, and RTX 3070. Nvidia also announced their partnership with Epic Games to bring its technology to Fortnite.

Fortnite is one of the most popular games out, boasting more than 350 million players worldwide and has partnered with top companies, including Marvel, Disney, and the NFL. Nvidia’s partnership with Epic games will have unique benefits for the game. Nvidia will introduce new features to Fortnite, enabling features like ray-tracing, AI-accelerated frame rates, and low-latency esports technology.

Ray tracing is a rendering technique that greatly improves shadows and lighting, and is being utilized for the future of video games. Fortnite will add four different ray-tracing features that will drastically improve different aspects of Fortnite graphics. Much like how Cyberpunk 2077 will use ray-tracing, Fortnite will have ray-traced reflections, shadows, global illumination, and ambient occlusion. The ray tracing features will add a new level of realism to Fortnite‘s current look.

The Fortnite RTX reveal trailer shows off a noticeable difference to the game’s reflections, shadows, and image quality. The trailer highlights incredible reflections on an astronaut helmet, the extremely detailed reflections in water, and even more colorful character skins. Players will experience a whole new Fortnite experience when they can run it with the GeForce RTX graphics card.

Along with the ray-tracing features, Fortnite will also launch a creative map called RTX Treasure Run that will highlight the features. This is not the first time that Fortnite has worked with a tech company to produce a creative map. Fortnite partnered with Nvidia competitor, AMD to release a creative map called AMD Battle Arena where players competed to win a gaming PC.

Fortnite will also take advantage of Nvidia’s new DLSS 2.0, which greatly improves AI-based real-time rendering. The Deep Learning Super Sampling technology is powered by AI processors on the GeForce RTX GPUs and has customizable options for video game image quality. With the technology coming to Fortnite, the game should run with greatly improved frame rates.

Nvidia will also introduce the new Nvidia Reflex suite to Fortnite, which dynamically reduces latency based on the GPU and game optimizations. Reflex has been successfully used to lower latency in games like Apex Legends, Destiny 2, and Valorant. The Nvidia Reflex technology will most likely be used in Fortnite competitions and can also be used by any gamer with the new Nvidia GPUs. Combining all these features supplied by top Nvidia technology will make Fortnite run and look extremely smooth.

Fortnite is available now on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
