Nintendo Switch Online subscribers may soon have the chance to play Game Boy titles alongside the NES and SNES ones already available.
New games are great, but more and more people want new ways to access and play old games too. Whether that be via remasters, re-releases, or simply adding them to online services. Nintendo has been gradually doing the latter with its NES and SNES libraries. If you have an active NSO subscription, then you can currently play more than 100 games across both platforms.
That collection only continues to grow, and it seems games from a new console will be included very soon. Nintendo reportedly has plans to start adding titles from the Game Boy and Game Boy Color. That's according to sources close to Nintendo Life claiming the new collection will be added to NSO's library very soon.

Nintendo started its NSO library in 2018, and a few months later a datamine uncovered four emulators, all with code names. Kachikachi, Canoe, Hiyoko, and Count. Kachikachi and Canoe were the code names used for the classic versions of the NES and SNES, hence them being reused for the addition of their respective collections to the Switch. That leaves two emulators left to be used, and it seems one of them was reserved for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color.
If Nintendo follows the same pattern as it has done with the NES and the SNES, the Game Boy will arrive on NSO with 20 titles. That collection will then be added to over time. The NES and SNES libraries usually receive new titles about once a month. It has now been more than a month since the last games were announced, perhaps because Nintendo is gearing up for the reveal and addition of its first Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.
If the Game Boy reports are true, then that leaves one emulator up for grabs. There are a few options to choose from. The Nintendo 64, GameCube, or maybe even the Wii. However, with Mario games from all three of those consoles being remastered and bundled together for a massive profit, the most likely final addition to the NSO family will be the Game Boy Advance. Since the Game Boy hasn't even officially arrived yet, the GBA's potential arrival is still a long way off.
