Genshin Impact: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Albedo

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play, open-world, action RPG, gacha game released in September 2020 on PC, PS4, Android, and iOS. The game takes place in the beautiful world of Teyvat, home to seven different nations that are all tied to a specific element. While the player follows the story of the Traveler, the protagonist, they can play as many other impressive heroes.

Introducing Albedo, referred to as the "Kreideprinz," which means "Chalk Prince." He controls the element of Geo and wields a Sword. Albedo, a five-star character, is the chief alchemist over at the Knights of Favonius. He's also the captain of their investigation team. Albedo is obsessed with learning as much as possible about Teyvat and everything inside the world.

Updated on July 30th by Scott Vengel: As months go on in Genshin Impact's development schedule, the game's roster of characters continues to expand. Even now, with Inazuma having just been released, a good 9 characters in total have been added to the lore (and that's only including soon-to-be playable characters.) As these new changes come to fruition, it's more important than ever to understand the inner workings of important members of the past cast. No character is truly out of the story of Teyvat until the curtains fall. This list will be expanded in order to bring more facts to light about one of Genshin Impact's most beloved characters.

14 Albedo According To The Official Website

"An alchemist based in Mondstadt, in the service of the Knights of Favonius. "Genius," "Kreideprinz," or "Captain of the Investigation Team"… Such titles and honors are of no consequence to him when there is so much more research to conduct. The pursuit of fortune and connections cannot hold a candle to his heart's desire — acquiring the limitless, obscure knowledge left behind by previous generations of scholars."

This is how Albedo is defined on the game's official website. He is an affable man and a popular one at that around the city of Mondstadt. Albedo is also an absolute wizard when it comes to alchemy.

What is the "truth" about the world of Teyvat? Who knows. Not even Albedo knows. But he will do anything to find out. Albedo looks into literally anything and everything he is interested in. Through his research, he even learned how to create living organisms.

13 Albedo According To The Game

"A genius known as the Kreideprinz, he is the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius."

This is what Albedo's in-game character attributes text reads in the game. He is one of the higher-ups in the order of knights sworn to protect Mondstadt for the past 1,000 years and prevent it from being ruled by aristocrats.

Besides being one of the most important figures in Mondstadt, Albedo is also a talented artist who enjoys making sketches and paintings. He often creates illustrations from Xingqui's novels. There are many times though where Albedo will start making a piece of art and leave it unfinished (forever).

12 Albedo Looks Handsome And Immaculate

Walking through the town of Mondstadt, Albedo is sure to turn some heads.

He wears just a blue shirt and black shorts. But over this, Albedo dons a long white-and-gold coat that has short sleeves and a black hood with a golden chain attached. Also, he is decked out with black stockings, black-and-silver boots, black-and-gold gloves. Albedo wears his Vision (the crystal orb) on the collar of his shirt.

What is most striking about him though is his appearance. He has teal eyes, pale skin, and long grayish-blonde hair, some of which he wears in a ponytail. Albedo, according to Kaeya and Lisa (and probably the player too), is handsome.

11 Albedo Has Intelligent, Impactful Talents

Aside from being a renowned alchemist and good-looking fella, Albedo is also a monster on the battlefield. With the power of his Solar Isotoma, he erupts his enemies with the element of Geo and then cuts them clean in half with his Sword.

Albedo's normal attack is called Favonius Bladework – Weiss; his elemental skill is Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma; Albedo's elemental burst is Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide; his first Ascension passive talent is Calcite Might; Albedo's fourth Ascension passive is Homuncular Nature; and his utility passive talent is Flash of Genius. (In fact, Xingqiu also has a talent called Flash of Genius!)

10 Albedo Collects Minerals And Flowers

To level up a character's talents, the player needs to acquire numerous materials. When it comes to Albedo, he likes Teachings of Ballad, Guide to Ballad, and Philosophies of Ballad; Albedo also prefers Divining Scroll, Sealed Scroll, and Forbidden Curse Scroll; and he is a fan of the Tusk of Monoceros Caeli.

When it comes to Ascension, Albedo wants lots of Prithiva Topaz (Sliver, Fragment, Chunk, Gemstone) and Scrolls. (Diving, Sealed, Forbidden Curse). He also needs Basalt Pillars, which are the heaviest components of Geo Hypostasis, and Cecilias, which are just beautiful flowers (that resemble an unbound soul).

9 Albedo Uses Princeps Cretaceus

Princeps Cretaceus is the name of Albedo's constellation, the character progression system. Each constellation is unlocked with a Stella Fortuna (which is only obtainable through pulling duplicates via Wishes). Princeps Cretaceus is Latin for "Chalk Prince," which is also the German translation of his title, "Kreideprinz."

If the player decides to invest in Albedo, he can literally litter the battleground with flowers (Transient Blossoms) that will completely overwhelm his opponents until their final breath. From levels one to six, they are Flower of Eden, Opening of Phanerozoic, Grace of Helios, Descent of Divinity, Tide of Hadaen, and Dust of Purification.

8 Albedo Is Klee's Guardian

Many know of Albedo's relationship with characters like Sucrose and Timaeus, but less know about his family life. To be fully correct, Albedo only truly considers his former master to be a parent figure, but he is known to have been good friends with Alice.

Klee being the daughter of Alice, Albedo considers her to be like a little sister to him in his voice lines. Given how close Mondstadt's genius was to her mother, Klee was entrusted to Albedo and the rest of the Knights of Favonius when Alice left for her journey. Effectively, this makes Albedo Klee's guardian, as she is closer to him than any other member of the Knights.

7 Albedo Has Interesting Views On His Vision

In Genshin Impact, Geo vision-holders seem to have a common trend of not having an interest in their visions: Noelle wanted an Anemo vision, Ningguang tried to sell hers, etc. Interestingly enough, Albedo also follows this trend.

In Albedo's voice lines, he mentions not feeling much emotion after receiving his vision. Rather, he views his vision as merely being a tool for conducting his research, nothing more. However, his view doesn't end there; Albedo also mentions that his joy in life is making the unknown into something understood and that visions are something that falls into this category.

6 Albedo Wants To Experiment On Paimon

Speaking of research, Albedo has a clear obsession with understanding the Traveler and how they work. After all, Albedo constantly seems to hint that he understands that player isn't all that they seem, as much is clear from his story quest.

However, even more than the Traveler, Albedo has an interest in Paimon in particular. In his voice lines, Albedo distinctly mentions that he's interested in the Traveler's "little floating companion" and wants to borrow them for experiments. This is interesting because, Albedo is the only character to question the nature of Paimon; while some characters, like Rosaria, seem to know something is different about the Traveler, few question what Paimon is (a common question among Genshin Impact fan theorists.)

5 *Albedo May Not Be Human But Rather A Homunculus

There is a popular Genshin Impact fan theory that suggests Albedo is a homunculus rather than a human, created by Rhinedottir. Who? It is unknown who exactly Rhinedottir is but it is inferred they are Albedo's current/former master from the region of Khaenri'ah.

The reasoning exists beyond the fact that Albedo is an alchemist capable of creating life from inorganic materials. During Act 1 of the Princeps Cretaceus story, Albedo mentions he is born "of chalk" rather than earth and therefore is "free of impurities." Additionally, Albedo compares himself to the Traveler in the sense they are "both composed of a substance that has yet to be fully defined."

He also says in Act 5 of The Chalk Prince and the Dragon story that Durin's life force resonates with him. Going off this, he contemplates if Durin (a dragon who was created and corrupted by the alchemist Gold) was a creation of Rhinedottir's (just like him, perhaps.) Whether this makes Albedo immortal or not, is currently unknown.

4 *Albedo Doesn't Care For Kaeya

As a member of the Knights of Favonius, many would assume that Albedo has okay relations with everybody (regardless of how much he hates social interactions.) However, this couldn't be farther from the truth. Funnily enough, Albedo seems to have a bad impression of Kaeya (while Kaeya seems to like Albedo.)

Albedo mentions that a person's sketches correlate with their mood, to which he says that he could sketch Kaeya with just three strokes. Naturally, without an about line for Kaeya, this would mean that Albedo doesn't associate Kaeya with having a good mood. Funnily enough, the opposite is true of the Huffman; Albedo could spend half a day sketching the NPC Knight.

3 Albedo Has Dreamy Taste In Food

Woodland Dream is a special food item that the player has a chance to cook up by making Sunshine Sprat with Albedo. It is his favorite dish and specialty, made with butter, fish, salt, and Small Lamp Grass.

According to the game, "The fruits and vegetables are laid out like grass, and they stand tall like trees. In this miniature world-in-a-plate, you circle the mottled city wall, follow brown alleys, and enter the light orange castle. A sweet, tender taste then bursts forth like a blooming flower. You open your eyes. There is a smile in the white-haired prince's eyes."

2 *Albedo Is Voiced By Khoi Dao

The voice actor for Albedo is Khoi Dao. He voiced Murata in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Paulo in Pokemon Masters, Cancer Cell in Cells at Work, Iskahn in Sword Art Online: Alicization, Tim Goodman in Detective Pikachu, Chaka in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, and Wolt and Nils in Fire Emblem Heroes.

Dao also lent his voice to One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, March Comes in Like a Lion, and Mob Psycho 100.

1 Albedo Was Born On March 3

On September 13, Albedo was born, which would make him a Virgo. This makes sense because the element for Virgos is earth (so, Geo). He also shares his birthday with novelist Roald Dahl, actor Tyler Perry, actor Ben Savage, and singer Niall Horan.
