The fishing gameplay in Genshin Impact 2.1 doesn't only feature five different fish families, but there are also four different baits to obtain. Every species only responds to one type of bait, so it's important to have recipes for all of them.

This new permanent feature has the potential to bring new fish-themed weapons to Genshin Impact. Currently, the one weapon available for exchange is in high demand. This weapon, "The Catch," requires Raimei Angelfish and Kois. There's a very high possibility that more weapons will be available in exchange for different fish.
How to Get Fish Bait in Genshin Impact
The first bait players will get is the Fruit Paste Bait. The recipe becomes available as soon as players unlock the fishing feature. Other than Fruit Paste Bait, there are three more available:
- Redrot Bait
- False Worm Bait
- Fake Fly Bait
The blueprints for these baits can be bought from Nantuck, the angler in Mondstadt. Each of the blueprints requires three Medaka, a common fish that responds to the basic Fruit Paste Bait. After unlocking the recipes, players can craft the baits via the Crafting Table.

How to Get Bait Materials in Genshin Impact
After knowing what materials they need for each bait, players should also know where to obtain them.
- Sunsettia: Harvest from trees in the open world
- Wheat: Purchase from the General Store
- Dendrobium: Available all over Nazuchi Beach
- Fowl: Obtainable from killing birds
- Slime Condensate: Item drop from killing Slimes
- Berry: Harvest from bushes in the open world
- Sakura Bloom: Inazuma local specialty, a lot can be found around the Sacred Sakura Tree
- Horsetail: Available in Dihua Marsh, and purchasable from the Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue
Fishing baits are as important as the fishing rod itself. Without it, players won't be able to catch the fish they want. It is also crucial to memorize which fish responds to which bait. Otherwise, players will have a hard time angling in Genshin Impact.
