Last month saw the much anticipated game from Sucker Punch, Ghost of Tsushima. The samurai pseudo-historical epic open world game was long in development, but ultimately, it seems to have paid off. The game was warmly received critically, and within just 3 days sold 2.4 million copies. That made it the fastest selling first party Sony IP ever. And within that first month also saw strong digital sales.
According to Superdata, within the month of July alone, the game sold just under 2 million digital units with 1.9 million. Just for full context, the game came out on the July 17th, so this is only roughly two weeks worth of sales. Not too shabby at all. We don’t have a more updated final sales number, but I think it’s fair to say the game was a big hit for Sony and Sucker Punch.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now exclusively on the PlayStation 4. A multiplayer supernatural-themed expansion called Legends is planned to come at some point in Fall of this year.
