Ghost of Tsushima’s Iki Island Expansion Lets You Tame Cats And Monkeys

Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch has revealed that players will be able to tame and pet a few new animals in the upcoming Iki Island expansion.

Petting animals is one of Ghost of Tsushima's most popular activities, with players having petted a whopping 55.63 million foxes according to some new data published to celebrate the game's one-year anniversary. In fact, it's so popular that Sucker Punch is now letting players tame and pet other creatures in the game's upcoming expansion, including monkeys and cats.

Thankfully, the Ghost of Tsushima Twitter account posted some short clips and explanations on how to pet the animals when you arrive on Iki Island. During your time with the expansion, you'll be able to find animal sanctuaries which are home to a variety of different animals including deer, monkeys, and cats. Whip out your flute, play some soothing melodies, and you'll be able to pet the animals as much as you like.

Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island expansion is fast-approaching, and to pump you up for it's release, Sucker Punch had uploaded a new story trailer and it gives us a look at the new Mongol threat we'll be facing. Jin will be heading to Iki Island to investigate the rumors of a Mongol tribe that is helmed by a mysterious leader known only as The Eagle.

In the trailer we see a whole host of new characters as well as some familiar ones, and the expansion promises to dive into protagonist Jin Sakai's past. Sucker Punch has also promised that this new expansion will be full of "intimate, emotional, personal stories" as Jin tries to defeat a force "unlike any they have faced."

Ghost of Tsushima's Iki Island expansion is set to launch on August 20th and is included as part of the Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. Those who already own Ghost of Tsushima will be able to upgrade for $19.99, while those buying for the first time will be able to pick up the Director's Cut for $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4.
