Once you arrive at the Motherlobe in Psychonauts 2, you'll quickly be given one of the biggest side missions in the game and a callback to the original – the Scavenger Hunt. Or, as Norma likes to call it, the hunt for Mission Critical Psychonauts Assets.

The Scavenger Hunt will send you throughout all four of Psychonauts 2's real-world areas. You won't find any of the Scavenger Hunt items in any of the brain levels, but they've already got enough in them so that's not a bad thing.
The four hub worlds, Motherlobe, Quarry, Questionable Area, and Green Needle Gulch, all have some of the Scavenger Hunt items in them, and you won't be able to collect them all until later in the game once you've unlocked all of the powers. You also won't be able to cash the items in until you've completed the game.
Psychonauts 2- How To Start The Scavenger Hunt
After getting your new outfit, you’ll run into Norma in the hallway, where Raz will confront her. This non-optional conversation will give you the side mission to collect 16 different items in order to get your old clothes back. Doing the side mission will let you swap Raz's clothes in the Motherlobe toilets. That includes the suit and circus attire, as well as his original outfit.
It’s important to note that you won’t be able to finish the scavenger hunt until you’ve beaten the game, as you’ll need the Projection ability from Cassie’s Collection much later on in the story.
Rotten Sushi
This item will likely be the first you find in the game. You can grab it from the Noodle Bowl in the Motherlobe. You’ll see it sitting on the side.
Psychonauts Name Tag
This is arguably the easiest one to find in the game. You’ll simply need to go to the Agents section of the Motherlobe. When there, turn around to find the storage closet, next to Milla's office. Interact with the door and you’ll get the name tag.
Agent Orientation Laserdisc
This item can be found in Otto’s Lab. Once you’ve talked to him for the first time, go past him and to the right. You’ll see a tunnel of electricity, with the item at the end. Simply use your levitation ball to run over the electricity and grab the item.
Unexploded Bomb
You can find the Unexploded Bomb in the Quarry, right near the entrance to the Questionable Area. You’ll see a campfire near the mine entrance – light it with Pyrokinesis to create an updraft. Ride that draft to the Unexploded Bomb sitting on a crane above.
Can Of Corn
The Can of Corn can be found in the Sassyclops Cave, in the Questionable Area. This cave is right near the Aquato camp and can be recognised by the Sassyclops sign. Go into this cave and light the first campfire you see to create an updraft and grab the item from a ledge above.
Psitanium Knife
This sharp blade can be found in the Quarry, in a cave near to where Lilli hangs out. Lilli hangs out on the right side of the Quarry, and right near where you'll see her, you'll see an entrance to a cave. Once you find the cave, simply climb up to the knife and add it to your list.
Switchblade Hatchet
To get this item, you’ll first need to learn the Time Bubble ability from the Brain in a Jar level. Once you’ve got that skill, go to the Questionable Area. Right outside the Aquato camp, you’ll see a water wheel spinning incredibly fast. Use Time Bubble on it and climb it to reach the roof, where you’ll find the Switchblade Hatchet.
Mini Murder Bug Bot
Once you reach Green Needle Gulch after completing all of Ford's brain levels, you'll come across a house where Ford will be hanging around. Climb the ladder in this house and burn the thorns blocking the door until you're stood on the balcony outside. Follow the balcony until you see the Mini Murder Bug Bot sat there.
Viking Helmet
The Viking Helmet can be found in Green Needle Gulch. Past the Heptadome, you'll see a camper van near a stage, which is Helmut's real Feelmobile. Behind this van is the Viking Helmet.
Beehive Shaped Like My Phone
The Beehive Shaped Like My Phone is found in a pretty obvious spot, behind Cassie's house in Green Needle Gulch. Make your way to her house, and then use the Levitation Ball to jump around the side of the house to reach the back. You'll find the Phone sat there. At least this one makes sense!
Human Skull
When you start up the funicular in the Questionable Area, the one on the left will have the Human Skull sat on top of it. Easy, and you'll likely earn it when trying to do the Rare Fungus for Lilli side mission.
Enemy Surveillance Drone
The Enemy Surveillance Drone can only be found once you've earned the Projection ability from Cassie's Collection. In the Motherlobe's Storage Closet, you'll see a locked door that only the Raz projection can interact with. Use him to open the door, and you'll see the Enemy Surveillance Drone sat on top of a locker.
Novelty Mug
The Novelty Mug can be found in the Lumberstack Diner in the Questionable Area, but can only be reached with the Projection ability. Once you've got Projection, return to the Lumberstack Diner and get paper Raz to open the door. The Novelty Mug will be sat in that room.
Deck Of Cards
With only two items on the Scavenger Hunt list left, we're getting to the really tough stuff. The Deck of Cards was the last item in the game I had to collect, and you'll find it in the Motherlobe's Astral Lanes bowling alley. Grab the bowling ball with Telekinesis and chuck it down the alley a few times. Once you've thrown the bowling ball enough times, the Deck of Cards will come down the ball returner. Delightfully devilish.
Astronaut Ice Cream
The Astronaut Ice Cream is easily the hardest collectible to find in all of Psychonauts 2. You can find it by going to the Central Nerve in the Motherlobe. Once you get there, go to the computer in the middle of the room that will be glowing green. Interact with it, and you'll see the green screen go to another computer in the room. Follow these green screens until it leads you to one in the corner. Activate this one and the Astronaut Ice Cream will pop out. Yeah, I felt pretty lucky finding this one too.
