How To Unlock The Savior Trophy/Achievement In A Plague Tale Innocence

While A Plague Tale: Innocence has great gameplay, most fans are more invested in the story. To that effect, most will want to see everything there is to see in the 2019 historical fiction adventure. Several trophies/achievements within the game unlock hidden dialogue or reveal moments you would otherwise miss.

The Savior accolade is one of these. It comes during a moment most would think is unchangeable, but anybody with determination and tact might be able to figure out how to unlock it. If not, follow the guide for a full breakdown on how to save the soldier in Chapter Five and unlock the trophy.

Reaching Chapter Five

Chapter Five is relatively early. The game has taught you all the basic mechanics but you are still slowly unlocking more tools for Amicia's arsenal. Shortly before Chapter Five, Lucas gifts Amicia Ignifer, which lights up torches from a distance. This is a vital tool for unlocking the trophy.

Getting To The Right Part In Chapter Five

This trophy is unlockable only within a certain moment of the fifth chapter. You will definitely be trekking through it for a bit before the moment arrives. You have to travel through the aqueduct with Lucas and Hugo and start crossing the battlefield. Only well into this will you run into the chance to save the soldier. You will encounter a long corridor filled with rats.

On the other side is a soldier trapped by them. He begs and pleads for some help. If you go through this moment normally without earning the trophy/achievement, you will push the rats forward with your torch towards the soldier and he will be eaten alive. Earning the accolade requires saving him, and there are two ways to do this.

First Way To Save The Soldier

The first way is the simplest and most straightforward. Once you are in the corridor with the trapped soldier, you can see an unlit torch next to him. Simply use your sling to shoot some Ignifer toward him.

The rats will not go towards him when you push them back with your own torch because of their sensitivity to light. Even though he is an enemy soldier, he agrees not to report your presence to his comrades.

The Second Way To Save The Soldier

This method is a little harder to find, especially on the first playthrough. You really have to know what it is and where to find it, because the opportunity presents itself well before seeing the soldier face to face. While already crossing the battlefield you reach a collapsed part of the wall with a soldier holding a torch.

Above him, you can see a small room and an unlit torch. Use the sling and Ignifer to light this torch, earning the trophy/achievement in the process. You don't get the same line of dialogue for doing this, but it is cool to know there are two methods.
