After being a rather mysterious title for more than a year now, Jett: The Far Shore has finally received a gameplay trailer that gives us an actual idea of what the game will be about. While not an extended look, the roughly three minute trailer with narration by Superbrothers A/V creative director Craig D. Adams sets the stage for the universe that players will be exploring in this sci-fi adventure game. It's definitely a massive departure from the likes of Sword & Sworcery and Superbrothers' contributions to Sound Shapes.
What I feared is that Jett would be an open-world game, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case. While players will be hopping to different planets, I wouldn't expect something on the scale of No Man's Sky. This looks like a much more focused and compartmentalized adventure that is sure to play to the strengths of Superbrothers as a team.

It seems strange for me to say that Jett was one of my most anticipated PS5 games when it was revealed last year based on the Superbrothers name alone. For those unaware of the developer, the team has collaborated with the likes of Capybara Games and musician Jim Guthrie to create games with a strong emphasis on music. The official credits for the studio list only Sword & Sworcery as the company's single title, even if Sound Shapes technically counts.
As of now, Jett: The Far Shore is scheduled for release on PC (via the Epic Games Store), PS4, and PS5 sometime later this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the game ends up getting delayed, but it does seem to be in a good place from the above trailer.
