Xbox has started to roll out its latest update that should fix the Quick Resume bug a number of users have been running into.
Xbox and PlayStation's latest consoles might already be eight months old, but they are still far from perfect. The beauty of this era of gaming is that when a console or a game runs into a problem, it can be fixed by developers from afar. Xbox's latest patch, which has been rolled out to its Insiders, does that for a known Quick Resume bug some users have encountered.
Xbox and PlayStation both added features to the Series X|S and PS5, respectively, that allow players to jump right into games without the need to boot them up from the start. The PS5 has introduced a feature called Activity Cards, while Xbox has created Quick Resume which allows players to pick up right where they left off playing a game.

The trouble is, users have been reporting Quick Resume showing a black screen. When selected, the game reboots from the start, thus rendering the function obsolete. The Xbox Insider ver. 2108.210708-2200 patch notes read, “fixed an issue where some Quick Resume titles would show a black screen when resuming and then reload from start.” Hopefully, that means the problem has been sorted for good.
Elsewhere in the new patch, Xbox has added “various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console.” The update will first be available to Xbox Insider members who are a part of the Alpha Skip Ahead Program. Those members will presumably provide feedback on the latest changes before the new update is rolled out to everybody else.
Xbox continues to roll out updates roughly once a month, releasing another in May that improved its Quick Resume feature. May's update didn't fix a problem as is the case this month, but just made the feature even faster than it already was in the past. Elsewhere in Xbox news, the rumors that Live Gold will soon become a thing of the past have returned. Apparently, Xbox is waiting until Game Pass hits a particular milestone before pulling the plug on its lesser monthly service.
