Legacy of Kain, an action-adventure game, was first released back in 1996, having been mainly developed by Crystal Dynamics. The series hasn’t seen much action lately, but that’s not stopping fans from finding ways to improve on and keep Legacy of Kain relevant.
Fans of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver should be happy to hear that the game is still alive. Specifically, a new mod has been added to the game from a big-time fan of the series. The mod is an AI-enhanced HD remaster for the Dreamcast version of the game.

While fans wait for the rumored Legacy of Kain remaster, an HD mod of Soul Reaver that improves on the game could be just what the doctor ordered. It looks pretty impressive.
RainaAudron has created the mod specifically for Dreamcast, as he claims that the “Dreamcast version has higher polygon versions of Raziel Kain and enemies but its textures are more pixelated than PC or even PlayStation in some cases.” RainaAudron created the HD texture pack and AI improvements to work even in 4K resolution, and the result is quite beautiful. While the mod doesn’t work on the PC, players can use a Dreamcast emulator on PC in combination with the mod. It’s impressive to see how one of the best Dreamcast games can look with some upgraded visuals.
Many hope that one of the best vampire games return someday soon, as the Legacy of Kain games have been away for far too long. But fan-made mods and creations are great ways to keep a series going, at least until the developer picks up the franchise once again.
Legacy of Kain is available for PC, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast, and GameCube.
