Mario Golf: Super Rush Adds Toadette

New Pokemon Snap isn't the only Nintendo game getting free updates this month. Mario Golf: Super Rush just got a surprise announcement – tomorrow, you can dive into a map called New Donk City and play as Toadette.

New Donk City is lifted right from fellow Nintendo Switch alumni Mario Odyssey and it goes by another name – "the city that never leaps." You'll immediately recognize it as it was heavily marketed in the lead-up to Odyssey's release being that it is heavily inspired by the real New York City. It's here that you find Pauline who is serving as the mayor.

Then there's the lovely Toadette – she has her Super Pickax item lifted right from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. She'll be using that in place of her golf club. Meanwhile, Toadette also has the ability to lob vegetables from Super Mario Bros. 2 while she sprints across the course. She's a walking trip down memory lane.

Nintendo also vaguely revealed that it is improving the motion controls while also implementing a brand new game mode called Ranked Match.

Now, you can get into a competitive spirit when playing Mario Golf: Super Rush – maybe this Ranked Match mode will lead to a blossoming eSports scene.

"Mario Golf: Super Rush is a Mario sports game, and as is par for the course (sorry) with such titles, it's best when played with friends," Dave Aubrey wrote in his review, "This manages to be the best Mario sports title on Nintendo Switch, and a great multiplayer gem for low-energy gatherings with pals."
