Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s newest trailer holds some subtle nods to past titles. With Call of Duty’s long history, it is not surprising that fans picked up on a very obvious reference.
With the attention of the camera focused on the flashy gun work, many fans didn’t notice the logo on the operator’s shirt. Although it will most likely not affect the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War plot, it will at least make some fans smile for those who recognize the longstanding reference.

The shirt was only in a few frames of the RTX Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trailer, but around midway through there is a scene where one of the operators is polishing a handgun. On the operator’s shirt sits the revised “Burger Town” logo, and although it isn’t the focus of the action, it is still a nice nod to the Modern Warfare franchise. Burger Town and Modern Warfare have had a long history with the logo making an appearance in almost every Infinity Ward title. For many fans, the appearance of this logo in the trailer proves the theory that Modern Warfare may be connected to the Black Ops universe.
In Modern Warfare, the Burger Town restaurant appears across Verdansk. Players have also found Burger Town locations in the Special Ops Operations and Ground War maps with the restaurant appearing simply as Burger. Burger Town lore states that they follow the rule of never reheating their patties.
The iconic blue, yellow, and red are thought to reference the real world franchise “Burger King.” This has since been proven false, as Burger Town was once its own real restaurant back in the 90s. It is unknown why the developers decided to put a digital version of this fast-food restaurant into their games, but it holds true both in design and color scheme to the original real-world version.
Burger Town has become an iconic Modern Warfare feature that appears game after game. The logo has evolved depending on the era and game itself with the most “modern” version of the logo found on Bubby in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s zombie map Infection. It is unknown if Burger Town will appear in the new Black Ops title, but the reference is an appreciated detail that fans enjoy.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
