Earlier today, Geoff Keighley aired the latest iteration of his annual Gamescom Opening Night Live event, showing off new looks at games like Halo Infinite, Death Stranding: Director's Cut, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and more. The event also revealed a few brand new titles players can look forward to getting their hands on in the near future, with one of the biggest announcements unveiling a new theme park tycoon game.
Titled Park Beyond, Bandai Namco and Limbic Entertainment revealed the upcoming release with a cinematic trailer, showing off a range of zany, futuristic rides and confirming the game will hit PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X sometime next year. The trailer itself sees the owners of a theme park arguing over the direction of its attractions, handing over the reins to the player and allowing them to create their own eccentric roller coasters and rides.

The clip hints that players will get the opportunity to build physics-defying attractions, with the featured roller coasters including a giant mechanical octopus that throws visitors between its tentacles and a large cannon that shoots winged carts through floating hoops. Other rides shown off are a towering amalgamation of multiple Ferris Wheels, a giant carousel, and a roller coaster featuring a massive jump between two ramps. It looks to be a take on the tycoon genre that puts the focus squarely on the player's imagination and creativity.
Over on the Bandai Namco website, the publisher reveals players will be able to customize parks in either a typical tycoon mode or a less intensive sandbox mode, with the reveal trailer's characters giving them advice about how best to manage their parks. Alongside rides, they'll be able to customize their park's theme and place other facilities, whether that's eateries, decor, shows, or concessions. They'll even be able to ride their roller coasters, with Bandai Namco promising they can hop into the front seat and experience their creations for themselves.
Park Beyond was one of many games revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live, being joined by several other announcements. Firaxis revealed its long-rumored Marvel game during the event, which is a strategy RPG titled Marvel Midnight Suns. Gameplay is slated to hit next week and it will launch in March 2022, with the reveal trailer promising a new story featuring the likes of Iron Man, Wolverine, and Captain America.
Meanwhile, the latest entry in the Saints Row series was announced, with the trailer confirming Volition is rebooting the franchise and focusing on a new cast of ambitious anti-heroes. The game will take place in the fictional city of Santo Ileso and sees a small group of criminals seemingly forming their own take on the Third Street Saints. Overall, the Gamescom kick-off show had a lot to offer, revealing several exciting new projects.
Park Beyond is slated to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X next year.
