Phasmophobia Is Adding A Camcorder

One of the big indie darlings of last year was Phasmophobia from Kinetic Games, and it's about to get a slick new ghost hunting item. A recent tweet from Kinetic teased a night vision camcorder, which appears to let you look around environments without ever turning the lights on.

It's a clever addition to any would-be ghost hunter's arsenal, as several ghost types in Phasmophobia are only active when the lights are off. Now you will be able to look around in the dark through the camcorder's viewscreen, which appears to illuminate environments. Though this is all pure speculation based on a short teaser video, so take it with a grain of salt as Kinetic has yet to post any details on how the camcorder will function yet. It's a safe bet that those details will come soon regardless, as detailed patch notes always accompany new updates.

In a follow-up tweet, Kinetic revealed that the camcorder is by "Parasonic," a cheeky nod to both Panasonic's line of camcorders. The development studio did something similar with the "Bony" camera teased only a few days prior. There's plenty of real-world equipment already in Phasmophobia, but none of what's already there pokes fun at existing electronics companies. Maybe this is a cute new trend by Kinetic coming with any further updates.

There are, unfortunately, no details on when the camcorder will come to Phasmophobia. Typically, new items and maps debut on the beta branch and remain there for a few weeks until the kinks are gone. It's worth switching over to the beta build on Steam as the updates are usually stable and quite playable with a group of friends, and of course, you get all the new content much sooner than usual.

Phasmophobia is available on Steam Early Access for $13.99 USD right now. If you're into the spookies, love co-op experiences, or are big on VR, there's none better than this.
