Next Pokemon GO Community Day: EEVEE
Date: August 14 and 15
Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time (both days)
The next Community Day's featured Pokemon is Eevee, and this time it's two days, making this the iconic Normal-type's second CD weekend overall. This time, though, all of Eevee's evolutions will be available, since Sylveon was introduced recently.
The day is looking to be quite the celebration, with special bonuses, a different special move for each Eeveelution, Timed Research that gives Glacial and Mossy Lure Modules, and more.
Read on to see everything happening for Eevee Community Day!
Special Moves
This time around, instead of each member in the Eevee family learning Last Resort, each evolution will learn its own move. Eevee itself (when hatched or caught) will still have Last Resort, but when it's evolved, it'll learn something new.
The window for evolving to get these special moves is from Friday, August 13, 2021, at 10 a.m. to Monday, August 16, 2021, at 10 a.m. PDT.
Eeveelution | Special Move |
---|---|
Eevee | Last Resort |
Vaporeon | Scald |
Jolteon | Zap Cannon |
Flareon | Superpower |
Espeon | Shadow Ball |
Umbreon | Psychic |
Leafeon | Bullet Seed |
Glaceon | Water Pulse |
Sylveon | Psyshock |
Remember, if you haven't used a nickname trick for one of the Eeveelutions, it can be the easiest way to evolve for that particular Pokemon. For more information on how to obtain each Eeveelution in Pokemon GO, check out this guide:

Bonuses
As always, there will be some special bonuses in effect for Community Day.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time on both days, these bonuses will be in effect:
- The distance needed to hatch Eggs will be reduced by 75%.
- Incense and Lure Modules activated during the event window will both last for three hours.
- The number of Eevee appearing in the wild will be boosted significantly.
- The shiny odds for Eevee will be boosted significantly.
-
There will be a snapshot surprise:
- If past CDs are anything to go on, it'll be Eevee, most likely, that will photobomb snapshots you take, and it will then appear in the wild. You will probably be able to do this up to five times, again, given past CDs.
Reduced Hearts Needed for Sylveon
One of the most appealing features of this Community Day is the reduced number of hearts you'll need to evolve an Eevee into Sylveon.
Typically, to evolve Eevee into Sylveon, you'll need to make it your buddy and then earn 70 friendship hearts with it. However, during the window of 10 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 to 10 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 (PDT), you'll only need seven friendship hearts to evolve Eevee into Sylveon.
This will make it much easier to obtain Sylveon's special move, add Sylveon to your Pokedex for the first time, or obtain a shiny one, or whatever else you need.
We have a full guide on all the ways to earn friendship hearts with your buddy:

Shop Box
As per usual, there will be a Community Day box in the in-game shop for purchase to help with your event needs.
It will cost 1,280 PokeCoins and it can only be purchased once.
Here's what you can expect in Eevee's Community Day box:
- 5x Incense
- 50x Ultra Ball
- 1x Elite Fast TM
- 1x Elite Charge TM
If you're interested, you can also purchase Eevee family-themed stickers in the in-game shop. Some of the Eevee-themed ones will also drop from PokeStops and gifts that you open during the longer weekend-long event window listed for the special moves availability.
Quests
There will be Timed Research, Special Research, and Field Research tasks. Here's what we know so far:
Field Research
These tasks will probably, as always, require you to catch three of the featured Pokemon, in this case, Eevee. Given the rewards for recent Community Days, here's what you can probably expect as rewards
- Great Balls
- Ultra Balls
- Stardust
- Pinap Berries
- Golden Razz Berries
- Encounters with the featured Pokemon
Timed Research
From 10 a.m. on Friday, August 13 to 10 a.m. on Monday, August 16 (PDT), Timed Research will be available to everyone for free.
This is par for the course for Community Day, but this time it'll be extra special. Rewards for this questline include a Mossy Lure Module and a Glacial Lure Module.
With these, you can evolve Eevee into Leafeon and Glaceon, respectively. Simply open up the Pokemon page for the Eevee you want to evolve, and if you're in range of a Mossy or Glacial Lured PokeStop, you should see the option to evolve Eevee into Leafeon or Glaceon.
Special Research
Some time before the event arrives, a ticket will be sold in the in-game shop that gives you access to a Special Research questline. It will cost USD$1 or the equivalent in your local currency.
This time around, the Special Research is titled "What You Choose to Be."
Typically for CD Special Research stories, you can catch the evolved stages of the featured Pokemon, and the ones who are able to will know the featured special move. It's unknown if all eight Eeveelutions will be encounter rewards for this questline, but if they are, they should have their special moves.
You do not need to complete this Special Research before the end of the Community Day event — it's permanently available. It is, of course, only available to those who purchase a ticket.
How to Prepare for Community Day
There is no shortage of free stuff given out on Community Days, from the supplies granted by easy Field Research tasks, the rewards for both Timed and Special Research questlines, the Shop Boxes, and more.
However, it's usually still a good idea to prep in advance for the upcoming Community Day, especially if the featured Pokemon (or its evolutions) is competitively viable or it's something you really want.
-
Of course, stock up on Poke Balls and Berries.
- Other things that can come in handy but aren't as vital are Incense, Lure Modules, and Star Pieces and/or Lucky Eggs (especially when the event bonus is extra Stardust and/or XP).
- If you're going to be going out for Community Day and doing a bit of walking, you'll definitely want to save your Incubators or buy some more to get some Eggs hatched.
Additionally, you'll want to make sure you have some Pokemon box storage available. If your storage is full or close to it, it'll be rather tedious to be transferring Pokemon throughout the day, so it's best to prepare in advance by making some room.
If your current Buddy is a Pokemon that you need/want Candies for, it can be wise to give them a Poffin to make them excited and reduce the walking distance needed for each Candy by half.
As for preparations in the real world, you'll want to make sure you have anything you need for either a day out of the house or setting some time aside to play from home.
-
If you're going out, make sure you dress for the weather and wear shoes and clothing that are comfortable to walk in for some time.
- If you require any type of mobility assistance, be sure it's accessible or available.
- Bring water whenever possible.
- If it's sunny where you are, make sure to use/bring sunscreen and other sun protection.
- Charge any portable batteries you might need (and your phone/device!) in advance.
-
Bring a mask and any type of hand sanitizer or disinfectant you might need to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
- Follow all local guidelines and take precautions.
- Opt to play from home when possible.
Many people like to plot a route in advance, especially if you want to maximize how many Pokemon you can catch (and whatever else you'd like to get done). If you know where good spawn areas are or the location of gyms that you like to raid at, be sure to plan in advance where you want to go.
Check online for a local Discord server, WhatsApp group, Facebook group, or any other type of social group for your community if you want to meet new people or join a raid group. Most places have some type of group available! Just be sure to check that your local COVID-19 guidelines allow group gatherings.
