Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Has 30 fps 4K and 60 fps Lower Resolution Modes

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Insomniac Games have announced that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will have a 30 fps at 4K resolution mode, and 60 fps at a lower resolution.

Speaking to Famitsu (translation: Google Translate), creative director Marcus Smith and director Mike Daily discussed more about the game. For example, the Enforcer we saw during the extended gameplay demo trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live has two firing modes based on the adaptive triggers (and whether R2 is pressed half-way or fully).

The Burst Pistol can also fire slow and accurate shots, or faster shots that are less accurate. When throwing the Shatter Bomb, players will feel it leaving their hand via Haptic Feedback, and the ensuing explosion. As weapons are modified and improve, you can feel the difference in the haptic feedback and triggers.

Along with the improved loading times allowing players to jump into entirely different worlds, the game utilizes ray tracing to improve the game’s lighting and more. While this is used for the reality-cracking portals, it is also used for Ratchet’s hair, letting it flow and move based on what is happening on screen.

While we saw two different types of dimension hopping- one where Ratchet pulls himself across great distances, the other where he enters entirely new worlds- the final game will have other kinds of dimensional portals.

Finally, it was revealed the game can run at two kinds of resolution and frame-rate. These are 30 fps at 4K resolution, or 60 fps at an unspecified lower resolution.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launches Holiday 2020 on PlayStation 5.
