Rumor: Halo Infinite Pre-Order Bonus Weapon Skins Leak Online

Halo Infinite is one of the biggest titles to be releasing in all of 2021 and now that it has a set release date, fans have been scouring the internet for any more details they can find about the game. Now two pre-order bonus gun skins for Halo Infinite were leaked by the Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi.

The weapon skins in question are for the MA40 Assault Rifle and the VK78 Commando Rifle, two weapons that were prominently featured during the Halo Infinite technical multiplayer preview that took place earlier this summer. The pre-order skin bundle is called Zeta Sky and recolors the normally gunmetal colored weapons to a blue and black layout reminiscent of the design for Commander Carter's armor in Halo Reach.

Unfortunately for anyone outside of Oceana hoping to pick up the Zeta Sky skins when they pre-order Halo Infinite, the DLC is a JB Hi-Fi exclusive. Although this might be disappointing for anyone outside of the region who wants the skin for their weapons when the game releases in December, the exclusivity does imply that other more local retailers might have their own exclusive pre-order DLC as well.

Halo Infinite's approach to player customization seems to be pretty much in line with a lot of other major shooter series, and offering DLC skins for pre-ordering at different retailers is a pretty common practice. It's still to be seen if other stores will have pre-order bonuses, but it seems pretty likely.

So far, this has been the first instance of leaked DLC material by a retailer. While this sort of thing happens from time to time with larger releases, fans have been waiting to see if any Halo content would leak from a retailer before it was officially announced. What's more, it isn't even the biggest Halo Infinite leak that's happened before the game's release.

Shortly after the multiplayer preview went live, data miners were able to find a lot of plot-critical information in the technical preview's code. This led to the multiplayer preview being picked apart and analyzed for more plot details. Unfortunately, many of the big moments from Halo Infinite's campaign were shared online to those trying to avoid spoilers. There haven't been any major leaks following the preview, but with another multiplayer demo coming before the game finally launches, there's a possibility that data miners might find more pre-release information about the game.

Halo Infinite launches December 8 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
