Rare has announced that Sea of Thieves will be switching their regular content schedule with a new three month “season”. Each season will also include a new Battle Pass progression called the Plunder Pass.
The new seasonal content system was announced during a Sea of Thieves news video in December of last year. You can find the video below (information about the seasonal content begins at 4:40).
The new seasonal content system will include a Battle Pass. Players of games like Destiny 2 and Dead By Daylight will be familiar with how Battle Passes work.
Players will be put on a track that rewards some sort of “experience” to progress along it. As players progress they’ll unlock new cosmetics and perks.
Players will have the option to purchase a “Plunder Pass” for exclusive rewards in addition to the free rewards available on the seasonal experience track.
