Even after 10 years, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim remains a favorite for role-playing fans. There are few games that can match the fantasy RPG in scale, and players continue to explore all there is to offer in Tamriel years after Skyrim's original release. One of the many ways that players share their passion for the title is through cosplaying, and one fan in particular has crafted a particularly incredible costume, impersonating the perfect Whiterun Guard.
The guards of the holds are arguably the most iconic NPCs in all of Skyrim. No matter which hold the Dragonborn is visiting, a city guard is there on patrol, awaiting any kind of criminal activity. Their dialogue lines are constantly referenced by fans, and the Whiterun guards in particular are well-known by players. Since Whiterun is one of the first locations that the Dragonborn can visit in the main storyline, both new and experienced players can easily recognize the appearance of the guards. That same appearance is recreated perfectly in this fan's cosplay.

The cosplay comes from Reddit user zero-kokojan, an avid fan of The Elder Scrolls series among many other games. With chain mail and studded cloth, the custom armor is nearly exact to its in-game counterpart, including the classic guard helmet. The full-body costume is complete with a one-handed axe and a rounded shield with the Whiterun insignia painted onto the front. Though there are plenty of other fans who've created various weapons in the game, such as the fan who recreated Skyrim's Dragon Priest staff, the amount of effort and detail put into the final product shouldn't be understated. It takes quite a bit of time, effort, and money to pull off a cosplay to this extent.
So far, fans adore the recreation of the Whiterun Guard, sharing their favorite quotes and experiences from the game in zero-kokojan's thread. Reddit has seen a variety of artists that share a love for TES, and fans continue to create new content as they play. From various forms of artwork, to mods, and even prop weapons and armor. Another Skyrim fan recently revealed their Aela the Huntress cosplay, as well. There are limitless ideas to explore for a game as large as Skyrim, which is likely the big reason it continues to have such a large following today. Despite the 10 years that have passed, the fan base is still incredibly dedicated to creating new content.
Considering that The Elder Scrolls 6 isn't going to be released anytime soon, it's good that fans can find new ways to share their passion for the series. With so many creative players out there, there's nearly a lifetime of content to explore. With luck, the next title in the growing franchise will continue to live up to expectations, and fans will have a whole new outlet to create from.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
