Despite only being announced a few days ago, Nintendo’s Super Mario 3D All-Stars is already in Amazon’s video game best-seller list for 2020. Ranked at 14th, it only sits below Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the latter’s digital code being at ninth place and the physical version being in fourth place. That should provide some indicator as to how well the collection is selling.
Nintendo’s policy when it comes to the game’s limited sale window could also be a factor. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will only be available at retail and on the Nintendo eShop until March 31st 2020. So it’s very likely there’s a rush to secure copies before it’s too late.
Of course, one could also attribute the Mario name to these sales especially since a collection of Switch ports for Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy have been anticipated for a while. Time will tell if Nintendo decides to reverse its stance, especially given the collection’s current popularity, so stay tuned. Super Mario 3D All-Stars is currently slated to release on September 18th for Nintendo Switch.
