After a year, The Last of Us Part 2 is still surprising fans with new hidden details. Thankfully, The Last of Us 2's photo mode is useful for uncovering such details, as one fan did while executing an enemy.
Naughty Dog is a studio known for its polish and attention to detail. With a consistently high production value, every aspect of the studio's games, from the character performances and animations to world design and physics, are some of the gaming industry's finest. Naughty Dog's games often move too fast to take in all of these details, making the inclusion of a photo mode necessary to fully appreciate them. A fan recently used The Last of Us 2's photo mode to reveal another combat detail involving how enemy character models respond to Molotov cocktails.

Reddit user SeaBaker7015 recently uploaded a photo mode discovery to The Last of Us subreddit. Under the right circumstances, enemy players can actually lose teeth, the post's focus being a knocked-back enemy with a clearly visible tooth flying away from them. SeaBaker explains that "opponents who get hit in the face with heavy items can lose teeth," meaning players likely must use one of the more bulky melee weapons to trigger this effect. It is uncertain just how rare a combat detail this is, though, like the incredibly uncommon animation of The Last of Us 2's Ellie catching a hammer out of mid-air.
Fans in the comments provide some interesting opinions on this discovery. One points out the sheer size of the tooth in the image, which is likely just due to the framing of the picture (if not, though, how did it take so long to notice such monstrous teeth?) Another fan admits their surprise that neither Ellie nor Abby lost any teeth during the course of the game, considering the numerous amount of massive hits they both take. Considering the losses—both physical and emotional—Ellie and Abby are faced with by the finale, maybe a better ending for The Last of Us 2 would happen if they just knocked out some of each other's teeth.
There are many other details hidden within the game that does not require the use of photo mode. A detail pertaining to the PlayStation consoles that appear in The Last of Us 2 made its rounds recently, after also appearing in the original The Last of Us.
Other details, though, while not requiring photo mode, do take more time to notice, like with the choice of records and songs that play throughout the game or consistency of player weapons in and out of cutscenes. Hopefully, this is still just the tip of the iceberg of the game's secrets.
The Last of Us Part 2 is available on PS4.
