3 Up, 3 Down – August 2021
August 2021 has come and gone, bringing along some of the best and worst games of the year so far. Found out which games fell within each category.
The Best
Psychonauts 2
The sequel to the first Psychonauts game, Psychonauts 2 brings the platform-adventure title to contemporary consoles. The at-times odd yet eccentric styled game oozes its familiar charm. In our review, we note that “Psychonauts 2 impresses the most because it treats human frailty and failure with warmth, compassion, and humor that is never cruel or demeaning.”
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
As one of last year’s best games, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut should fare even better on the PS5. Its improvements include dynamic 4k resolution, adaptive trigger support, overall improved performance, an expansion, and more. In our review, we noted that “the story wastes little time, the fights are all exuberant and engaging, the exploration is addicting, and the entire game is gorgeous.”
Aliens: Fireteam Elite
At its core, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a cooperative third-person survival shooter reminiscent of the Left 4 Dead-style of games. Add that in with an iconic IP, and you already have something that is quite interesting. In our review, we found that “Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a polished and potentially fun and action-filled romp through a corner of the Alien universe and lore.”
