Final Fantasy 14’s popularity is surging with Endwalker’s expansion on the horizon – we’re about three short months away from a journey to the moon. As my first dive into my weekly catch-up in the MMO’s biggest happenings, I’ll be rounding up some goodies you may have missed from these last few weeks, instead of my usual timeframe.
All of us Eorzeans are eager to dive into 6.0, but before you go storming Garlemald, there’s still plenty going on for your Warrior of Light. This week, we’ll touch on a brand new cookbook, upcoming festivities, and some predictions around Omega.

Culinarians, rejoice! Final Fantasy 14 is getting its own collection of recipes aptly titled The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook: The Essential Culinarian Guide to Hydaelyn. We don’t know what types of goodies lurk in it just yet, but we do know it’s packed with over 70 recipes that range from snacks to delicious meals. It’s Yoshida-approved, and he’s even written a foreword for the collection.
It’s out on November 9, just in time for Endwalker, for $35. You’ve still got time to pre-order and prepare a meal to celebrate the closing of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark arc.
Celebrating Summer In Costa Del Sol
Every year I swap things up and dress my catgirl in her best summer-themed glams and hit the beach with friends. Final Fantasy 14’s warm and sunny celebration is a yearly event that always brings cute rewards and the promise of a good, beachy time. This year, you can head to Costa Del Sol for the Moonfire Faire August 13 through August 26 and grab some goodies to beat the heat.
The questline, Seasonable Chills, kicks off in Limsa Lominsa (x:11.5, y:13.8). Upon completing the short story, you’ll be rewarded with a new Polar Bear Mount, Moonfire Mask Stalling, Costa del Hielo, and Grilled Corn. While the Polar Bear is the cutest, I’m looking forward to those new summer-themed snacks for my house.
Why Are We Still Talking About Omega?
If you’ve learned anything after making it to Shadowbringers, then let the lesson be that Square Enix is always willing to pull far, far from the past. Omega isn’t even that long ago – it’s from Stormblood – but an excellent interview over at PCGamer put Omega back on my radar, and I noticed it appeared in the new Benchmark, too.
So what is the ancient mecha weapon, exactly? Well, it’s complicated, and it may still be quite important, even after its arc ended in Stormblood. If you need a refresher on what Omega is, where it came from, and what it could return as, then I’ve written up the longest TLDR you’ll read on it.
A Little Bethesda In Your Eorzea
Final Fantasy 14 players are always a creative bunch, but this in-game Todd Howard caught the eye of @mirihawke over on Twitter. During a celebration organized by fans, a player with the name “Todd Howard” traded them a Faded Copy of Oblivion. I’m hooting.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time someone has dressed up as the Bethesda Director, but in all my years of playing, I’ve never met anything quite like him. Bravo, Mr. Howard. It sounds like the player behind the costume isn’t the real Todd Howard, but they’re my new favorite Final Fantasy cosplay – so thank you, @Tetenuko.
