Borderlands 3 players have another chance to get some Golden Keys with a new Shift code. The code can be redeemed for 3 keys at the chest in Sanctuary, but can only be used for a limited time. This code expires Monday, August 31 at 10 am CT, so Borderlands 3 players need to hurry and grab their loot.
While the Borderlands 3 Year 1 Celebration is almost done, there is still plenty of loot to go around. Players can unlock three Golden Keys by going to the Main Menu, navigating to the Shift code input screen, and putting in the code: “KZ5TT-6BB6Z-WF56S-XBBBB-RH6SF.” Gamers can access the special chest once they have reached Sanctuary. These three keys each offer a shot at great gear scaled to the player’s level, so it’s advised to save them until the player’s character is max level.

There are plenty of good items to try to get throughout the game, as the Siren and Beastmaster classes have plenty of great legendary items, and many Gunner builds require certain shields that limit Moze’s health to 1HP. Zane has access to powerful mods that alter his grenades, which, when built with the proper skills, create plenty of chaos and mayhem.
Some loot is incredibly well hidden in the game, which makes Golden Keys incredibly useful to players. Rather than hunting down Borderlands 3’s hidden red crates, players simply pop a key into the Sanctuary chest and cross their fingers in the hopes they get the legendary they were wanting. Although some players think this can take away from the looting experience, the fact that it is entirely optional helps balance things out.
If players are worried about saving their Golden Keys for additional characters, the odds look incredibly slim at the moment. While many fans have asked about new Borderlands characters in future DLC, Gearbox seems focused on updating and improving the standard four in the game. This allows players to try even more builds out, but it is a drastic change from some previous games, which released multiple characters later on.
Hope is not entirely lost about future character additions, as the Gearbox CEO seems to have teased future content coming to Borderlands 3. It may be the case that the upcoming Krieg DLC is only the last for the current DLC pass. If that is the case, then an addition DLC or even an entire Year 2 of content could be in the works right now. Whether that is the case or not, there are plenty of Golden Keys given out every month to ensure that players can feel safe spending the ones they have now.
Borderlands 3 is available now on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
