WATCH: Ratchet & Clank’s evolution over the years

Ratchet & Clank's evolution

A few days before the debut of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, PlayStation shows us how much the franchise has changed over the years.

PlayStation has shared with all Ratchet & Clank fans a recap video in which nostalgia was present from the first second of the video. In it, we see how the game saga has evolved over the years. From the launch of the first game on PlayStation 2 to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – which launches on June 11 on PlayStation 5 – Insomniac has managed to captivate us with the stories of two of PlayStation’s most important heroes.

“It’s been quite a journey to get here, as our team has been working on creating a showpiece for the new hardware. Built from the ground up for PS5, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful and technically impressive games ever released. I know the rest of the team here at Insomniac feels the same way,” says James Stevenson, Community Director at Insomniac Games.

“Over the years we’ve worked on a lot of Ratchet & Clank games. When I think back to those games on the PS2 and PS3 consoles, it’s amazing how far we’ve come,” Stevenson adds.

Hardcore Ratchet & Clank fans will get to see a lot of Easter Eggs in the video presented by PlayStation on its YouTube channel. From artifacts to props from the original TV commercial of the first PS2 game. There are a lot of details that fans will appreciate in this video.

Another thing that keeps fans and the gaming press on its toes is the upcoming 20th anniversary of the franchise. We know how fond Insomniac is of their titles. Clearly, they won’t let this milestone of Ratchet & Clank go under the radar next year. The bad thing about all this? We have to wait a year to see what they surprise us with!
