Right now most eyes are on the next generation of consoles. Even if someone isn’t lucky enough to be able to get one just yet, it’s still exciting to look to new tech. But, of course, the world didn’t collectively stop during this time period and things keep selling on the current material, and you can see that in the rise of revenue on the Xbox side.
In the latest financial report from Microsoft to investors, they showed a strong rise in the brand. Xbox content and services revenue rose 30% year-over-year with gaming overall revenue also growing by 22% for the period between July 1st and September 30th. Xbox hardware did fall slightly down 27% as one probably expects from this long in the system’s life as well as upcoming new hardware coming. Continued Game Pass subscriptions and the strong sales of both first and third party games are pointed at as being the driving forces of these increases.
Microsoft will release their next generation consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, on November 10th. You can read the details about those systems through here.
