XSEED Games have announced Dead of Alive themed DLC for Senran Kagura: Estival Versus will soon be delisted from online stores.
The statement came via XSEED Games’ Twitter, confirming the DOA Collaboration Set, Ayane character, Ayane’s Kimono, and Kasumi’s Outfit DLC will be removed from online stores on March 17th. Those who had previously bought the DLC will still be able to re-download the content at any time. The DLC is available as the Dead or Alive Pack on Steam for $5.99 USD.
This is likely due to the licenced agreement between XSEED Games and Koei Tecmo having concluded. The game launched in 2016 in North America, giving a round five year period; almost certainly the terms of a contract. Most DLC crossovers have licences granted for far longer, or for the life of the game.
The girls of Senran Kagura are all ninjas-in-training, working for the forces of good or evil, and beating the pants off one another- literally. Players slash their way through numerous foes before fighting against one of these students, using their shinobi powers to assume special costumes with overwhelming powers, and costume-breaking attacks.
Estival Versus takes the girls to a parallel dimension, a sunny tropical island, along with Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy’s Ryōbi and Ryōna. There, the girls meet long lost loved ones, and are challenged by the island’s mistress to a tournament. The winning school will learn not only the deepest secrets of the ninja, but lay the souls of their loved ones to rest.
