Bethesda has confirmed the release date for the next-gen version of Doom Eternal. PS5 and Xbox Series X gamers will get an enhanced version on June 29.
“This free update optimizes Doom Eternal for next-gen machines, offering improved visuals, increased performance, and support for ray-tracing, or 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, or an optional 120 FPS mode,” Bethesda says.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect on each platform:
Xbox Series X
- Performance Mode: 1800p – 120 FPS
- Balanced Mode: 2160p – 60 FPS
- Ray Tracing Mode: 1800p – 60 FPS
Xbox Series S
- Performance Mode: 1080p – 120 FPS
- Balanced Mode: 1440p – 60 FPS
- Ray Tracing Mode: Not Available
PS5
- Performance Mode: 1584p – 120 FPS
- Balanced Mode: 2160p – 60 FPS
- Ray Tracing Mode: 1800p – 60 FPS
PC
- Ray Tracing Mode: Available on compatible devices
“All modes feature dynamic resolution scaling. Balanced & Performance Modes [are] not available with Ray Tracing. Performance Mode requires a 120hz compatible display. Balanced Mode requires a 4K compatible display,” the company adds.

This is a highly-anticipated update. I’m looking forward to firing this up on my Xbox Series X!
