Believe it or not, Kirby is only a few months away from celebrating his 30th birthday. Kirby's Dream Land launched for the original Game Boy in April 1992, and considering how iconic the pink blob is to Nintendo history, fans are hoping that the company will do something to mark the occasion.
Now, it looks likely that Nintendo does indeed have something up its sleeve. Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the news section of the Kirby website is receiving a makeover, which appears to have gone live much earlier than the web designers intended. All the news updates on the series have been replaced by templates, and the graphics have been replaced by the artwork for the 20th anniversary in 2012.

As you can see from the screengrabs, the images used for the placeholder news posts are from the 20th anniversary. Further adding to the theory that the redesign is part of the upcoming 30th anniversary celebrations (should there be any), the Kirby render on the top of the page is from Kirby’s Dream Collection Special Edition – a compilation anniversary title, that was curiously never released in Europe and Australia. It was a late Wii release, and contained six of Kirby's early adventures from the Game Boy, NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64.
Amusingly, not all of the dummy text is written in lorem ipsum (a meaningless language used in graphic design). The body of text in every news post is actually an excerpt from The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. Either the web designers wanted to have a bit of fun, or we're about to get the wildest Nintendo crossover since Mario and Rabbids.
Nintendo has had a varied track record with its big franchise's birthdays lately. While Metroid fans were (finally) relieved to see Samus get some love in the upcoming Metroid Dread, Donkey Kong got nothing for its 40th. Also, while Zelda fans did get the HD remaster of Skyward Sword, Nintendo was suspiciously quiet on the actual anniversary, not even putting a tweet out.
