Rumors have been circulating about Halo Infinite’s Xbox One version being canceled since its delay. And while Halo Infinite’s delay was cause for concern among fans, rumors that the game would only land on Xbox Series X and PC appear to be misinformed, according to a 343 Industries developer, so Xbox One fans should have nothing to worry about.

Over on Twitter, Halo Infinite Community Manager John Junyszek shut down rumors that the game would be canceled on Xbox One, as well as rumors that the game could be pushed back all the way to 2022. According to Junyszek,  there are numerous false “leaks” currently circulating about the game, and there are no plans to delay the launch to 2020, as some have claimed.

The development team is “building Halo Infinite to be the best it can be on each device/platform,” Junyszek wrote. Microsoft has shifted its priorities as of late, putting a heavier emphasis on Xbox Game Pass, the company’s subscription service, and introducing its games to more platforms. It makes sense then that Microsoft would ensure that the Xbox One port is being supported, as the console will be central to the company’s plans for a few years yet.

Initially, Halo Infinite rumors claimed it was struggling to run at 1080p on the Xbox One, and while Junyzsek didn’t shut down that rumor specifically, the other fake leaks do cast a shadow of doubt on the low-resolution claim. Microsoft does seem committed to getting it on all platforms, so fans on the Xbox One likely have nothing to worry about.

Fan reception to Halo Infinite was largely mixed. The game’s graphics, in particular, are a direct cause of much of Infinite’s criticisms, with fans attacking the visuals as lackluster and not “next-gen” enough. 343 Industries didn’t directly source the reception as a cause for the delay — in fact that can more likely be attributed to the coronavirus — though many fans seem to have concluded that’s the case.

Regardless of the reason for the delay, or even the source of the rumor, at least 343 has put this issue to bed. Delaying Halo Infinite was a bold choice, and one that could have serious implications for the Xbox Series X, so it’s good that Microsoft is still putting its full weight behind it. Fans can expect a more polished experience than they would’ve gotten without the delay, and the extra time will undoubtedly be used to address some of the criticisms about the game.

Halo Infinite is in development for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
