Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was officially revealed today, with players jumping into Call of Duty: Warzone to track down Frank Woods and unlock the game’s first true trailer. While the trailer mainly focused on the Black Ops Cold War campaign, the final 15 seconds gave fans a brief clip of multiplayer gameplay and the official date for the full multiplayer reveal.

Set to take place on September 9, the reveal should elaborate more on the gameplay clip that was shown. Within the clip, two soldiers can be seen battling it out on a large desert map in Black Ops Cold War. It initially seems like a by-the-books showcase of a Call of Duty shootout, but the map soon pans out to reveal players on vehicles approaching from a far more open area.

Whether this clip is showing off a new, large scale multiplayer mode or Black Ops Cold War’s take on Warzone is unclear. The Frank Woods operator pack was also confirmed at the end of the teaser, with players getting access to the character in Modern Warfare if they pre-order a digital version of the game.

A killstreak comes into play at the end of the Black Ops Cold War reveal trailer, and a plane can be seen shooting across the sky before it drops a payload on someone in a jeep. Another person is shown on a minigun within this segment as well, hopping onto the turret using a similar animation to the chopper gunner from Black Ops 1.

This tiny bit of gameplay seemed more reminiscent of multiplayer modes from the Battlefield series than traditional COD multiplayer, so it will be interesting to see how the game’s online play looks on September 9. A beta was also confirmed for the game, as well as free DLC for Black Ops Cold War, which should be similar to how Modern Warfare handled its content rollouts, though that remains to be seen.

For those interested in more news on the next Call of Duty game’s online offering, a good bit of information leaked on Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer recently. Until then, fans will have to be patient and wait for the September 9 multiplayer showcase.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases November 13th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are also coming.
