League of Legends players have been enjoying a small break since the Spirit Blossom 2020 event ended a few days ago. But even though there’s only normal, ranked, or ARAM matches to queue for doesn’t mean it’s truly a dead week in-game. As of today, players are discovering some new secret missions have been added with their own unique rewards.
On the League of Legends Public Beta Environment, the PsyOps skins were recently enabled for testing and feedback. This is another skinline set in a future universe which is also shared with the existing Arctic Ops skins and currently unreleased Black Rose Group. Although PsyOps is scheduled to appear with Patch 10.18, the community has found out that missions for each side can already be completed on the live server.

To receive the PsyOps summoner icon, players need to play 5 games using a champion that will receive a PsyOps skin soon. These champions include Ezreal, Master Yi, Shen, Sona, and Vi. These must be matchmade games, so PvP or Co-op vs. AI will work, but custom games won’t count for credit. The easiest way to complete this mission in draft or ranked will be playing Shen in top lane, Master Yi or Vi in the jungle, and Ezreal or Sona in bot lane. Note that the mission doesn’t state a specific champion has to be played 5 times, so any combination of champions can satisfy the requirement.
On the other hand, the BRG summoner icon requires playing 5 games as Kayle, Pyke, Viktor, or Zed. Kayle is normally a top laner, Pyke is a LoL support, and Viktor or Zed are mid laners. However, Kayle and Pyke can also be flexed to mid lane in rare cases. Be aware that the client doesn’t track the first BRG or PsyOps mission, so players can keep track of their progress by themselves or just keep going until the icon pops up.
After finishing the hidden mission, players automatically unlock another one which involves equipping their freshly earned icon. Click on the current icon next to the player’s IGN in the client’s upper right corner to change it to PsyOps or BRG. Afterwards, simply play 5 more matchmade games to earn a free Hextech Chest and key. Like before, wins and losses both count towards mission credit. Since both icons can be earned by one account, players can earn 2 free League of Legends champion shards, skin shards, emotes, or even rarer prizes.
Although these missions are a nice surprise, Riot did a similar series with the High Noon skins this year, so players shouldn’t expect another big event until Worlds 2020 arrives. However, it is nice that fans of both icons and sides aren’t forced to pick one over the other like during Versus events. And if PsyOps continues to follow the same trend, there should be a few more missions to pass the time once Patch 10.18 releases next week.
