Insomniac Games announced that Spider-Man Miles Morales Ultimate Edition would feature a key for Spider-Man PS4 Remaster. Spider-Man PS4 Remaster will have things like Ray-Tracing, Upgraded Textures, and 4K 60FPS, but some people might have wondered if the owners of Spider-Man PS4 will get the Spider-Man PS4 Remaster for free. I’m sorry to inform you of this, but no, you won’t get a free upgrade.
Thanks to @Crack_bandicoot on twitter, we were able to get a screenshot of this conversation.
As you can see in this twitter conversation Eric Monacelli (Director of Production at Marvel Games) stated that Spider-Man PS4 Remastered wouldn’t be free for the people who already own Spider-Man PS4.
So basically, Spider-Man PS4 won’t support the cross-gen upgrade if this is to be taken true. Many games like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla support a free cross-gen upgrade, so it is weird to see Sony not supporting a Cross-Gen Upgrade. It should also be noted that you won’t be able to purchase Spider-Man PS4 Remastered alone you will have to buy Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition for that.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to release on 12 November for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, which is also weird considering that Sony Executives had stated that PS5 games would not be coming to PS4
“We have always said that we believe in generations,” Ryan said. “We believe that when you go to all the trouble of creating a next-gen console, it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not include. And that, in our view, people should make games that can make the most of those features.
We have also reached out to Insomniac games for further information. We will keep you updated if they reply.
