Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition will ship with a download code for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and it’s looking like Insomniac have done a pretty thorough job remastering the 2018 PS4 title. From new suits and ray-tracing to 60 FPS gameplay and even new Trophies, this doesn’t look like a hasty up-res, that’s for sure.
One pretty drastic change that the game is making is replacing the old Peter Parker facial and character model from the PS4 title with something completely new, with Ben Jordan now giving his likeness for the character. It’s a change that’s proven to be controversial, with many fans unhappy about how different Peter Parker now looks. Recently, the game’s creative director Brian Intihar took to Twitter to address the reaction to said change.
After re-iterating that the change was made to find a better facial match for Yuri Lowenthal – the actor who does voice work and motion capture for Peter Parker / Spider-Man – Intihar said that Insomniac “didn’t make this decision / change lightly.”
“I hope you can trust us that this decision is what we feel is best for the future of the franchise and our upcoming goals for this beloved Marvel character,” he wrote.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will release only on PS5, alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on November 12. A standalone release for the remaster is currently not planned.
