Given the massive critical and commercial success that Ghost of Tsushima has enjoyed, it’s sort of a given that Sony and Sucker Punch will be working on a sequel. And even though one hasn’t been officially announced it, most people are working under the assumption that work on it is probably going to be underway as soon as possible. In fact, as job listings have suggested, it seems like that process may already have kicked off.
A job listing at Sucker Punch seems to suggest that the studio has started working on a Ghost of Tsushima 2 (or whatever they’ll end up calling the sequel). The position for Combat Designer mentions in its requirements that the applicant “must have played Ghost of Tsushima and understand its core combat systems”. That’s a pretty clear indication that the developer is looking to build upon said systems with its next project, which will likely be a sequel.
Sony have openly mentioned on a few occasions that Ghost of Tsushima turned out to be a much bigger success than they had expected. As of early November, the open world action-adventure title has sold 5 million units worldwide.
