Well, this is a bit of unusual and cool news. On January 23, Twitter user Nathaniel Bandy had put out a call to Super Smash Bros. Melee fans to attempt at get a perfect score during the game’s end credits sequence. For those wondering, Melee’s credits feature an on-rails shooting sequence where the goal is to blast the name of every person credited with working on the game. Bandy ’s challenge included a $3,000 reward and had a deadline of March 31, 2021. As it so happens, one fan has already successfully answered the call: Martin Zarate!
Speaking to Polygon, Zarate stated that in order to accomplish the feat he “had to learn a different control style, memorize the pattern and executive very difficult inputs.” Zarate felt that the hardest part of the challenge was in getting through the list of voice actors because “they come in all different directions and there is no room for error.”
A college student, Zarate plans to use the money to pay for his tuition in his quest to get a degree in parks and natural resources. Nintendojo would like to tip its collective cap at Zarate for one hell of a gaming accomplishment.
