In this guide we're going to break down all of the new features being added to the game in today's new season patch, in addition to all of the changes you'll have to adapt to with the weapons and legends you're familiar with. Just scroll down below for everything you need to prepare for the new season.
New Legend: Seer
Seer is the brand new legend who looks like he could come straight out of a Lil Nas X music video. Seer is a support legend, similar to Bloodhound and Crypto, and his abilities focus on finding the enemy so they never take you by surprise. Here are Seer's abilities:
Passive – Heart Seeker
When aiming down the sights of a weapon, Seer will be able to hear and visualise the heartbeats of enemies. As long as you know roughly where they're hiding, this trick will be able to pinpoint the opponent.
Tactical – Focus of Attention
This tactical ability summons a bunch of tiny drones while will pinpoint nearby enemies, even through walls. This will also show their health bars, allowing you to pinpoint weaker enemies and finish them off.
Ultimate – Exhibit
This create a large dome, inside which you will be able to see the footsteps of enemies moving quickly or firing their weapons. If your enemy is hiding in one of the final circles, this ability is almost guaranteed to drive them into the open.
New Weapon: Rampage
The Rampage is a brand new heavy ammo LMG (yes, that's right, heavy ammo – no light ammo LMG yet…) which has a much slower fire rate than most of the weapons in the game. This is a double-edged sword, on the one hand it makes the weapon much more stable at long range, but it also means that it'll get outpaced by other LMGs easily when up close.
But to make it more competitive when staring down opponents, using a Thermite with the weapon will drastically speed up the fire rate, making it much more fearsome. This temporary power up is comparable to the Sentinel's charge.
Map Update: World's Edge
World's Edge has been torn asunder, and a giant lava river has split the map in two. This is the result of the Harvester mining away at the world – fracking is bad for the environment, kids. The new Climatizer and Lava Siphon areas stabilise the environment here, and moving gondolas will ferry players to and from these areas – making them far more interesting battleground than ever before. We'll need to wait until we jump into the map ourselves for more information.
Ranked Arenas
Ranked Arenas are the same Arenas you know and love, but with Ranked matchmaking. Skill-based matchmaking has always been in place for Arenas, but now you'll be able to be matched specifically with other players who have a similar rank to you. Raise through the ranks to prove your power every season, and gain a variety of rewards.
Legend Balance Changes
Now we're getting into the meaty details. The legends below have either been buffed or nerfed, and the only way to find out which is to take a look for yourself:
Fuse – Big Buffs
- Enemies caught within Fuse's ultimate are now revealed to the team.
- Knuckle Cluster Tactical explosion lasts twice as long as before.
- Grenadier Passive can be toggled, allowing normal grenade throw range.
These buffs to Fuse's Tactical and Ultimate abilities are massive, and will make Fuse a much more regular opponent to face in Arenas and Battle Royale. The Grenadier Passive change also makes sense, as sometimes you just want to toss a cheeky grenade directly into the air, and with this Passive active, a normal Frag would detonate well before it hits the ground.
Horizon – Minor Buff?
- Reduced slow after initial Black Hole pull.
- Gravity Lift speed increased slightly.
The Black Hole will be less devastating to opponents, and they'll be able to avoid barrages of grenades much more effectively, but the Gravity Lift will go a bit faster, allowing you to soar above opponents fairly quickly. This isn't as fast as it was when Horizon was first introduced, but is a nice buff over the current speed.
Revenant – Minor Nerf
- Audio and visual cue added when Death Protection is ending – can be seen by opponents and allies.
- Brief slow after returning to Death Totem.
Revenant's Ultimate ability has had a lot of fan outcry recently – for no real reason, honestly. A lot of salt. Still, this minor buff should please Revenant haters, since taking down a shadow won't mean another barrage straight after.
Caustic – Buffed
- Gas damage starts at five, increases by one every tick.
- Tactical cooldown reduced by five seconds.
- Ultimate cooldown reduced by 30 seconds.
- UItimate duration reduced by five seconds.
The Ultimate has had a slight nerf, lasting only 15 seconds now instead of 20, but the damage increase and extra gas barrels will more than make up for it. Caustic's gas will now be scary again.
Weapon Balance Changes
There are a bunch of new weapon changes, so strap in for an information overload…
