The great GPU rivalry still rages on. Currently, there are two main contenders in the graphics hardware market, AMD and Nvidia. While Nvidia tends to have a bit of an edge over its rival, AMD still has a lot to offer. And even though both companies are about to compete with Intel's upcoming GPU products, the Radeon manufacturers are still hard at work putting out new tech, and it looks as though the company may be getting ready to launch a new one.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, a recent post on Twitter suggests that AMD may be working on the next iteration in its Big Navi range. User CyberPunkCat uploaded a picture alongside the tweet which seems to show a slide from the company, with some details about a possible new GPU. The slide in question contains such phrases as "RX 6000 Series" with "6900 XTX" written underneath. This could suggest a follow-up to, or at least another version of, the company's 6900.

Ardent followers of graphics card updates will know that AMD's 6900 XT was first seen last September, and was released in December. What's interesting about this alleged leak is that it also contains some hints as to what the spec may be. For instance, the image shows the XTX could have a performance of 24.93 teraflops, or TFLOPS, which would outperform its own 6900 XT which has 23.04.
It also says that the theoretical GPU will have 18Gbps. Given that the Nvidia RTX 3090 has a memory clock speed of 19.5Gbps, this means the AMD RX 6900 XTX, if such a thing is currently in development, falls just shy of one of the most powerful cards on the market. However, Tom's Hardware adds that the new AMD product could rival anything Nvidia has put out in terms of speed and memory. Of course, all this is speculation, but the fact that the image has this information suggests that the company is likely working on something, almost certainly a new iteration of its 6900 range.
Given that AMD announced its 6600 XT card a few weeks ago, which was released on August 11, it seems as though the tech giant is keen to keep up with its rival, who is also putting out new products at a speedy rate. However, all this may be for naught anyway, as the world is still experiencing shortages with customers finding themselves still unable to get hold of any new hardware, particularly when it comes to gaming and PC tech.
