Nintendo have released the Island Tour Creator website for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, letting users create posters and trailers for their islands.
As previously reported, the Island Tour Creator is a limited time web service that (until the end of 2021) will allow users to capture special posters and trailers to “promote” their island. Unlike sharing screenshots and clips via the Nintendo Switch itself, the images and videos are edited through the web service.
After scanning the QR code on your mobile device (ensuring they have a Nintendo Account), users can use screenshots and clips sent to their mobile device, or link to their Twitter account to use previously posted and compatible media. Any screenshots or clips that have been edited by other programs will not be compatible, and “It is possible that the system may not recognize a valid screenshot or video.”
Media posted to Twitter must also have had one of the default hashtags for the game (#AnimalCrossing or #ACNH for example), as well as “Media taken from your most recent 1,000 tweets, with a maximum of 200 screenshots or videos eligible to be chosen.”
Trailers take 5 to 10 minutes to process once created; and categorize clips under “Scenery” or “Neighbors” while a narrator talks over the top. The trailer can be downloaded up 48 hours via the URL it creates.
The URL can still be sent and saved for later once processing begins; ready for when you can download it. However, the URL is not for sharing with friends (only the Nintendo Account that created it can see it), but purely so the user can download it to upload and share with others.
Those who have already made posters and trailers are sharing it via #IslandTourCreator on Twitter. If you create your own Island Tour trailers and posters, share them with us in the comments below!
