The RTX 4080 Noctua Edition graphics card is the quietest air-cooled GPU on the market, courtesy of two cutting-edge Noctua NF-A12x25 fans that move air over a massive heatsink developed in collaboration with the veteran thermal R&D team at ASUS and the engineers at Noctua. The NF-A12x25 fans were optimized for their performance against back pressure with an impeller designed to sit 0.5 mm away from the 120 mm frame with the aid of Noctua’s proprietary Sterrox liquid crystal polymer (LCP).
This extremely accurate gap between the fan blades and frame allows them to perform against back pressure by reducing the airflow leakage margin, perfect for a densely packed GPU fin stack. This incredibly precise tolerance is supported by metal-reinforced motor hubs and axis, providing a solid base for this innovative fan design.
Asus and Noctua are no strangers to the world of silent cooling and their latest collaboration sees them take on the RTX 4080. Announced at CES 2023, the card sports Noctua’s signature brown and beige colour scheme that aims to turn this chonky GPU shroud into an aesthetic statement piece.
The GPU itself is the usual Asus design, but the Noctua branding adds a mocha twist to it that is sure to turn heads in the gaming community. It also features two Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM fans, and eight heat pipes, along with two HDMI 2.1a outputs and three DisplayPort 1.4a connectors. ASUS has not yet revealed the price or release date for this GPU, but it is expected to arrive soon.
