Silent Hill Reboot Speculation Flares up Again as Series Composer Teases Summer Reveal for His Next Game

Rumours of a new Silent Hill game being developed by Sony thanks to a partnership with Konami as a PS5 exclusive have been doing the rounds since early 2020, and on more than a few occasions, new reports have kept popping up for the project, even in the absence of any official word from either of the parties that are supposedly involved.

Time and time and time again, we’ve heard that the Silent Hill revival is going to be revealed, only for that to not happen after all, which means the torturous waiting game has gone on a bit too long. Once again though, some new developments have sparked more hope for series fans.

Speaking in a recent interview (that has been set as private) with Arabic gaming outlet Al Hub, Akira Yamaoka – the composer of the Silent Hill franchise who rumours have pegged as being involved in the supposed reboot as well – said that we’ll be hearing about a new game he’s working on soon, and that it’s “the one you’re hoping to hear about.”

“You’ll probably hear something this summer, to be announced, and I think it’s the one you’re hoping to hear about,” Yamaoka said. “But we’re keeping it general at this point.”

The suggestion there is hard to avoid, especially in context of the incessant Silent Hill rumours over the course of the past year. That said, there are some complications to consider. Leaks have said that the Silent Hill revival is being developed by series creator Keiichiro Toyama’s team at SIE Japan Studio- though recently, Toyama left the studio to form his own team, which is currently working on a multiplatform horror game. Konami themselves also said that the Silent Hill rumours are not true not long after they first emerged.

Given the way the whole Silent Hill situation has progressed so far, it’s best to keep your expectations in check. Either way, we’ll keep you updated, so stay tuned.
