Battlefield 2042 Leaker Reveals Future Seasonal Content

We got a major download yesterday on some of the features that will be included in Battlefield 2042. However, Tom Henderson, who has been known to leak accurate information on the series has revealed what we could expect from future seasons of the game.

According to a tweet put out by Henderson, each season of Battlefield 2042 will come with a new specialist, two new maps, two Portal maps, a story-driven Hazard Zone update, six to eight new weapons, two to three new vehicles, and 100 season tiers. They also followed up the tweet with a GIF of Adam Sandler telling us that it’s all for free.

While Henderson has been spot on in the past, the sheer amount of content that Battlefield 2042 is offering for free seems too good to be true. Other shooters that follow a seasonal update cycle usually give out some stuff for free and offer additional content as part of a paid component. Specialists or new characters are usually kept behind a paywall while new maps, guns, and vehicles are included in the free updates. However, if this supposed leak turns out to be true, that’s a lot of free content! Battlefield 2042 already looks like one of the most appealing shooters coming out this year, and Dice could set up a decent continuous player base with this kind of seasonal content offering.

EA has confirmed that the open beta for Battlefield 2042 will be coming in September. A Redditor spotted information about the open beta on the Battlefield 2042 website before it was deleted. It mentioned that the open beta will start on September 6 and go on till September 11. EA Access and Origin subscribers along with those who pre-ordered the game will get access to the open beta on September 4. The information also mentioned that you could start pre-loading the beta on September 3.

The Portal mode coming to Battlefield 2042 will allow players to create game modes of their choice. While it will include some classic maps from Bad Company 2, Ripple Effect GM Christian Grass told us that they expect fans to ask about more Bad Company.
