The latest Public Test Build for Dead by Daylight has been released which includes the two new characters for the upcoming Chapter XIX of Dead by Daylight.
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical competitive game where players take on the role of either a killer or the survivors trapped with them. Survivors have to repair generators and escape while the killer has to chase down and kill them.
The DLC for Dead by Daylight is released in chapters, each DLC includes a new killer, a new survivor, but usually both. The latest chapter will feature the new killer Ji-Woon Hak “The Trickster”, and survivor Yun-Jin Lee.
Like some of the previous chapters, the backstories for the killer and survivor are intertwined. Ji-Woon is a sadistic serial killer who allowed all his bandmates to burn to death in order to hear them scream his name, while Yun-Jin is an ambitious producer who managed Yun-Jin who was willfully ignorant of the string of murders that followed her tours with Ji-Woon.
Each new character to Dead by Daylight introduces three new perks that can be unlocked for use on other characters. For The Trickster these are:
Star Struck: A perk that “Exposes” survivors that are nearby when he picks someone up. A useful perk to punish the common strat of bodyblocking or sabotaging the hooks. The exposed effect means survivors will be downed in one hit by basic attacks, even if they are uninjured.
Hex: Crowd Control: A perk that causes windows to be blocked off when a survivor quickly vaults them. This can be a problem when looping the same area, and also inconvenience allies. As a “Hex” perk, this perk will be deactivated when its connected totem is cleansed.
No Way Out: This perk generates a token each time a survivor is hooked for the first time. For each token (to a maximum of 4) the exit gate switches are blocked for up to 40 seconds. This gives the killer a window of opportunity to turn a game around at the last minute.
The new survivor perks for Yun-Jin are:
Fast Track: Each time an ally is hooked, gain a token. These tokens are consumed to generate additional progress on generators when achieving a great skill check.
Smash Hit: An “exhaustion perk which gives a boost of speed after stunning the killer with a pallet. Exhaustion perks induce the exhausted debuff when used, which prevents further use of exhaustion perks until the debuff goes away.
Self-Preservation: An an ally is hit nearby, the user of the perk doesn’t leave scratch marks for a handful of seconds. This allows them to get away more safely as the killer will have trouble following them. Normally when a survivor runs, they leave glowing marks generally visible only to the killer in order to aid in tracking.
The newest DLC featuring The Trickster and Yun-Jin is available now on the Public Test Build for Dead By Daylight. A release date for the DLC has yet to be announced.
