Call of Duty Warzone and Cold War Update Brings Substantial Changes

Meta

Since the release of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War in November and the transition of developers in Call of Duty Warzone, Raven Software have been given their fair share of both criticism and praise. Recently however, Raven Software have been applauded for their consistent transparency in patch notes that truly set itself apart from most developers as each patch note that brings changes to the meta in Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone indicate the reasons why changes were made along with the change itself. Fans of both games have been grateful for the clarity and reasoning provided by Raven Software. Today, yet another change will hit both Warzone and Cold War, as Raven Software follows up its 80’s Action Heroes patch, that brought Rambo and John McClane to the game as playable characters.

Apart from general quality of life bug fixes, in Warzone Solos mode, the Bertha (or truck) will have a reduced spawn rate as the truck has been consistently abused in the solo game mode resulting in players needing to empty their resources in the final circle to win, or some winning unfairly using the bertha. In terms of the weapons, the most notable changes came to the FARA-83 and the CR-56 AMAX, two assault rifles that became staples. The AMAX’s headshot multiplier has been decreased from 1.62 to 1.5 as the developers noted that the AMAX became the top assault rifle without much competition. FARA-83 had its recoil pattern adjusted and hip spread increased in an attempt to make it a long-range viable assault rifle. Furthermore, changes were made to Tactical Rifle Charlie and the LW3 Tundra.

Finally, changes to attachments including Optics and Muzzles were done to adjust the viability of Cold War weapons in the game as they are considered to be distracting and lead to visual obfuscation.

The changes that were made are likely to affect Call of Duty Warzone’s meta as the AMAX is bound to have stiff competition as topgun.
