Even with issues with cheating, balance changes and integration with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Warzone continues to perform well for Activision. In a recent earnings call, the battle royale shooter had more than 100 million monthly active users. Net bookings for the franchise were effectively doubled over the previous year. Activision Publishing president Rob Kostich said that, “Warzone is going to be front-and-center for us for a long time.”
Premium unit sales for the full year also grew by 40 percent year over year. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War contributed to this (SuperData reported 5.7 million digital sales in November alone) but Modern Warfare also had strong second year sales. In terms of battle pass sales, Black Ops Cold War’s first season along with Warzone have led to the highest number sold yet.
Recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War received a new Zombies map, Firebase Z, and new multiplayer map, Express. Warzone will also receive more crossover content, further advancing the current story until the next game’s release. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
